Assassin was made in 1999, it was the third Dr Who fan film produced by TVTL Productions, and the last TVTL project to be completed.

Assassin was written as a prelude to The Plague Of Lychwood. A few scenes were recorded for this production, some in Sydney, Australia. But the project was never completed. VortX Productions made a version of The Plague Of Lychwood in 2002. Although no longer linked to Assassin as the original was intended, the VortX version kept the same plot.

Ixeryx may look familiar to you. The mask was bought from artist Susan Moore, who created many of the alien creatures that appeared in the BBC Dr Who story Dragonfire. It is unclear if this is the mask used in the BBC story or a duplicate from the same mould.

In June 2004 VortX re-edited Assassin from a rare VHS copy. The sound is poor in places, as was the original but the new version features a new title sequence, tighter edits, extra sound effects and a different ending!
